About

Barbara de Ligt is a Dutch multimedia light artist whose work explores layered meaning and metaphor through visual form.
Her practice evolved from traditional oil paintings and detailed drawings into graphic design, handcrafted light objects and a multimedia approach in which physical and digital elements intersect. Across disciplines, light remains the central medium — both material and metaphor.
Rather than presenting fixed narratives, her work invites open interpretation. It moves between the tangible and the intangible, the structured and the organic, encouraging viewers to pause and reflect within fields of light.
She lives and works in the Netherlands.

Personal Orbit
This early work combines a digitized pencil drawing (2010) with a Hubble space image and a self-portrait added in 2022.
Long before light became the structural core of Barbara's work, the fascination with cosmic space and spiral movement was already present.

Vortex Emblem
This spiral figure represents a vortex energy moving inward and outward — a foundational dynamic present at every scale of existence.
From microcosmic processes to galactic formations, the vortex expresses continuity, emergence and flow.
Originally hand-drawn and later digitally refined, the emblem embodies the convergence of manual gesture and structured form.
As the emblem of BarbaraDeLigt.com, it reflects the underlying energetic structure that informs the work.
